Luxexpo The Box joins the B Corp community

In October 2024, Luxexpo The Box became the first event venue in Luxembourg to achieve B Corp certification, marking a new milestone in its commitment to creating a positive impact on society and the environment.

WHAT IS B CORP CERTIFICATION?

Created in 2006 by the non-profit organisation B Lab, B Corp certification recognises companies that aim not only to be the best in the world, but above all the best for the world. Today, more than 9,000 companies in over 90 countries have earned this label, including well-known names such as Patagonia, The Body Shop and Danone.

To become B Corp certified, a company must meet strict criteria across five key areas:

  • Governance: transparency, ethics and a social mission embedded at the heart of the company’s strategy.

  • Workers: respect for rights, quality of working life, personal development and wellbeing.

  • Community: positive impact on society, local engagement, inclusion and diversity.

  • Environment: sustainable resource management, emissions reduction and green innovation.

  • Customers: products and services designed responsibly and with strong social value.

The certification is based on a rigorous assessment process called the B Impact Assessment, which is reviewed every three years to ensure continuous improvement and regular reassessment.

It is important to highlight that B Corp is not simply a certification: it is a broader approach and a cultural shift that encourages companies to factor positive impact into every decision they make. This is the spirit in which Luxexpo The Box decided to take action.

WHY DID WE DECIDE TO OBTAIN B CORP CERTIFICATION B CORP ?

Achieving B Corp certification is the result of more than two years of in-depth work.

This demanding journey reflects our determination to rethink our model and make it more responsible. The key motivations behind this approach include:

  • Organising responsible events with a low environmental impact.

  • Strengthening local partnerships, particularly with associations focused on social or environmental causes.

  • Encouraging the use of local suppliers who share the same values.

  • Creating a positive impact on the Luxembourg community by supporting local projects and initiatives.

THE SPECIFIC CHALLENGES FOR A VENUE LIKE LUXEXPO THE BOX:

Why is this certification especially relevant for an event venue? Because an organisation like Luxexpo The Box plays a structuring role in the local economy and carries significant responsibility in terms of impact. Every trade fair, conference or forum we organise is a real opportunity to take action for the climate, for people and for society as a whole.

Committing to the B Corp journey means going beyond the standards of traditional event management. It means integrating sustainable practices at every level: choosing service providers, managing energy, ensuring accessibility and inclusion, reducing waste and more. In this way, every event becomes a genuine platform for positive transformation in Luxembourg and beyond.

Above all, it is a long-term commitment: obtaining certification is not the end goal, but a starting point. We are committed to progressing, constantly innovating and questioning our practices, in order to strengthen our positive impact on the local economy, society and the environment year after year.
