Created in 2006 by the non-profit organisation B Lab, B Corp (for Benefit Corporation) certification distinguishes companies that strive not only to be the best in the world, but above all to be the best for the world. Today, more than 9,000 companies in over 90 countries have obtained this label, including such iconic names as Patagonia, The Body Shop and Danone.
To be B Corp certified, a company must meet strict criteria in five key areas:
Certification is based on a rigorous assessment process called the B Impact Assessment, which is reviewed every three years, guaranteeing continuous improvement and regular questioning.
It is important to emphasise that B Corp is not simply a certification: it is a global approach, a change in culture that encourages companies to integrate positive impact into all their decisions. In October 2024, Luxexpo The Box became the first event centre in Luxembourg to obtain B Corp certification, marking a new stage in its commitment to having a positive impact on society and the environment
Obtaining B Corp certification is the fruit of more than two years of in-depth work. This demanding process reflects our desire to rethink our business model and make it more virtuous.
The motivations behind this approach include
Why is this certification especially relevant for an event centre? Because a venue like Luxexpo The Box plays a key role in the local economy and carries a major responsibility for its impact. Every exhibition, conference or forum we host is a real opportunity to take action for the climate, for people and for society as a whole.
Committing to the B Corp approach means going beyond traditional event-management standards. It means embedding sustainable practices at every level: choosing service providers, managing energy, ensuring accessibility and inclusion, reducing waste, and more. In this way, each event becomes a genuine platform for positive change in Luxembourg and beyond.
Above all, it’s a long-term commitment: obtaining certification isn’t the finish line, but the starting point. We’re dedicated to continuous improvement, constantly innovating and re-examining our methods, so that year after year we can deepen our positive impact on the local economy, society and the environment.
This responsible approach brings positive benefits for all our stakeholders:
Clients: Access to events designed with sustainability in mind, featuring eco-friendly facilities and logistics planned to minimise carbon footprint.
Suppliers: Emphasis on local sourcing and collaboration with like-minded businesses in the region.
Employees: Respectful working conditions, backed by internal policies that support well-being (flexible hours, remote work options, nursing-mother support, etc.).
Community: Active backing of local initiatives and partner associations, with deep roots in Luxembourg’s social life.
Environment: Lower ecological impact through optimised energy management, a robust recycling programme, and ongoing efforts to cut CO₂ emissions.
